Where to Stay and Eat at River Valley, Singapore

With wife went for a weekend staycation in Singapore. Selected this new hotel just opened in Jun 2016. The hotel name is M Social, new member of Millennium Hotels and Resorts Group. Standard room with just 19 square meter space, it is really a challenge for the operator to attract guest. M Social has invited famous designer Philippe Starck to design the hotel, this is the attraction/selling point of M Social.

Worked for Pierre Cardin previously then well-known after led the design project for French President. Philippe Starck's output are very wide such like interior design, architecture, furniture, home appliance and many more. The target customer of M Social is younger generation that can accept modern design and IT savvy. The room we had was Alcove Cosy Room, small but all necessaries were in place. The high ceiling replicate cottage ceiling gave me feeling that I was in the countryside cottage.

Smart phone for IT savvy guest. Guest can take it out to explore the city. It is 4G connection and free for hotel guest.

The hotel located beside Singapore River, along the river bank, it has plenty of eateries and bars. Location is convenient. Take a short distance bus, hotel guest can reach main attraction points such like China Town, Marina Bay and MRT Stations.

We settled our dinner at the hotel's restaurant. It is designed by Philippe Starck too. Fine dining restaurant with Asian and Western cuisines. Foods are delicious and gave us 'wow' impression for its presentation.

My routine activity after dinner, have some walks and went to high floor to take some nice view.

This was taken at 5th floor swimming pool.

The next morning, we did not opt for the buffet breakfast. Walked to nearby cafe for our brunch.

There are 2 well-known cafes with in-house coffee bean roasting capability. You will be assured their coffee is fresh and intense aroma.

May 2016, with wife went for staycation for our anniversary. Selected this Orchard Hotel at Orchard Road as it is the highest rank in Trip Advisor among all hotels in the same group - Millennium Hotels and Resorts.

We selected its Signature Club Room, different with their normal room, this Signature Club Room come with oriental interior design. Signature Club Room guest has exclusive benefit to visit its Signature Club Lounge with same design theme. On top of that, guest can access Premier Lounge as well.

After checked in, we headed to Premier Lounge for the Afternoon Tea. Private dining and friendly staffs, enough spread of foods. The tea selection all are TWG brand. Lovely.

For dinner, we selected PS Cafe, just walking distance from Orchard Hotel. This cafe also highly blogged by various bloggers. A lovely place for fine dinning. Friendly staffs and nice foods.

The slow cooked meat is juicy and soft. I liked it.

Settled the main course, we skipped the cafe's coffee and had it at Hotel's Signature Club Lounge. Coffee and tea with tv under oriental atmosphere, nice.

 TWG Selection

Next morning before breakfast at Premier Lounge, we visited the swimming pool. Club room guest can choose to have breakfast at Signature Club Lounge or Premier Lounge or Orchard Cafe at lobby. Basically breakfast spread is the same, Signature Club Lounge a bit lesser, at Orchard Cafe we expect to have breakfast with hotel's crowd. In view of breakfast spread and privacy, that's why we selected to have it at Premier Lounge.

 

After checked out, we took MRT train to Orchard Central. Wife wanted to visit the newly opened Pompompurin Cafe. It is a cartoon theme cafe showcase Pompompurin a cartoon character under Sanrio umbrella. Sanrio is a company famous of its well-known cartoon Hello Kitty. Too bad, the queue of the cafe was too long. We switched to Lady M Cafe. Lady M, started its first cafe in New York, with its world-famous Mille Crepes cake and other deserts, it spread to Asia region - Hong Kong and Singapore.
