The Backyard of Christchurch People

After Rotorua, we returned to Auckland and took plane to South Island of New Zealand. Knowing from the online research South Island has more attraction compare to North Island thus our trip in Sourth Island has been planned with more towns to explore.

We took Jetstar for this domestic flight. It cost us NZD344 for 2 persons 2 ways Auckland to Christchurch. Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand. It situated at the east coast. As it is further south compare to Auckland so the weather is cooler, the month we visited was September, it ranged about 0 deg C to 14 deg C. It is home to 381,800 residents, making it New Zealand's third most-populous urban area behind Auckland and Wellington.

First day arrival in Christchurch, we checked in to Airport Palms Motel. Our itinerary was stay a night near airport, the next day collect the car and drive to another town. Before fly back to Auckland for connecting flight to Singapore then we explore this Christchurch. This motel has quite a good review on Tripadvisor, the owner is friendly and helpful. It cost us NZD165 a night.

First day in Christchurch as it left half day so we have no plan to any attraction, today just for relax. (spent early half day for flight travel)
We were craving for Asian cuisine, after checked the internet, we went out to hunt for food. To me, it was enjoyable just to have a walk at its residential areas. We could see the living style of locals as well as different scenery compare to Singapore. The time was Spring in New Zealand, flower blossom at the backyard of Christchurch people attracted us.

We found this Dream Garden Vegetarian Cafe & Restaurant. It operated by Taiwanese and you can find free comic book to read there and bubble tea. (Bubble tea: Taiwanese tea-based drink with chewy topioca balls or fruit jellies.) Owner is friendly and the service is attentive.

Sweet and sour vegetarian meat was delicious.

The next day we had our lunch in Christchurch before drove out to other town. It is common there the rice served with a nice shape. An unique experience to both us too.
