Where to Experience Maori Culture in Rotorua

Day 2 in Rotorua, we would like to go to a place that we can explore most of the attractions at once. We headed to Te Puia. Te Puia is New Zealand’s living Maori cultural centre, located just 5 minutes from central Rotorua. Besides experience the Maori culture, visitors can find a live kiwi enclosure, the world-famous Pohutu Geyser, geothermal field and mudpools.

**Unfortunately that day we could not see the kiwi as it has not walked out from its nest. Perhaps other attraction that main focus is kiwi will be easy for visitors to view kiwi compare to Te Puia.

The Maori cultural performance can be seen here daily.

When entered to the field of geothermal, I felt like I was in another planet. Surrounded by geothermal smokes really is an unique experience.

Geyser that erupted as high as 30 meters.

Surrounded by smokes.

The mudpools there also interesting, however Te Puia does not provide the mud bath spa service. Hells Gate in Rotorua does provide such service.

Wife bought some mud mask at Te Puia when leaving. Really a good business idea as the mud is natural gifts for Rotorua.
